Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're actually at Ozark International Raceway, if you can't tell by the sights and sounds behind us, and I'm here with John. And, we walked past John's tow set up, he's also got his STI over there that he's been tracking, and we saw that he has a Curt weight distribution hitch. And, for those of you that may not know what that means, we're actually supporting to the frame of the trailer with your trunnions and that's gonna kinda take that load up, and it's really just using physics to kind of beef up your towing capacity on the vehicle. And John, tell me about it. Yeah, it's towed awesome from day one. I had it on my 2015 F250 and it really needed it there, with the F450, I don't need it so much, but I still use it every time I tow this trailer, whether it's just to run up to town with it, or 500 miles, like I just did. more

One of the common problems that you run into whenever you're pulling a trailer or camper, that's kind of pushing the limits of your vehicle is the vehicle performance, right You hook up your trailer, the back end squats down a bunch. Hi there, travel trailer owners. Today, on your 2017 Winnebago Minnie Plus, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install ProPride's 3P Weight Distribution Hitch. ProPride's 3P weight distribution system is an all-in-one anti-sway and weight distribution solution. Unlike some of the other options out there that both help with weight distribution and are also anti-sway, this one here takes it to a whole nother level with their 3P system, which is their pivoting point projection system, and you can see that's this system right here. What this does is it takes the pivot away from the ball where you would traditionally hook up and it transfers it to these pivoting points here. These actually will turn and this system will move to ensure that your trailer can still pivot the way it needs to to turn, but it eliminates any sway side to side 'cause the system can't just move like your typical ball and rock like your typical ball. more

This is going to help evenly distribute the weight of your trailer over the axles of your tow vehicle and your trailer for more stability and control. So, basically, rather than just having that one connection point where your coupler sits on your hitch ball, that is going to, oftentimes, cause the rear end of your vehicle, your tow vehicle, to sag down, and that can cause a lot of strain on your rear suspension system, so this is going to provide two extra attachment points to the frame of your trailer, and then these spring bars are going to create tension that's going to help lift that up and spread that weight evenly across all your axles, make sure that everything is right level like it should. And this is going to have that tension that's going to act as a sway control as well to make sure that your trailer isn't going to be swaying as you're going down the road. Now, this is designed specifically for your bottom mounted couplers, so the couplers that are mounted on the bottom of your trailer frame, they're sometimes called underslung couplers, so it is gonna be slightly different from the systems that are designed for the couplers that sit on top of your frames, so make sure that you're getting the right one for you. more

So, this is going to function very similar to most weight distribution system. So I'm gonna cover that here in a few moments, but where this really stands out is it sway control capabilities. So unlike most of your weight distribution systems that have sway control, they typically use friction to help try and keep the trailer in line so you'll have your spring bars like we have here and we'll just be sitting on a steel platform so they're relying on that steel on steel friction to create that sway control and that's gonna work up to a certain point to help keep your trailer in line but if you have really big gusts of wind, a tractor trailer comes by something big like that, it can oftentimes overtax that friction capabilities. more

This is going to ensure that your tow vehicle and trailer are nice and level rather than having all the tongue weight or weight of your trailer, pushing down on just your hitch ball, which can cause your tow vehicle to kind of sag in the back end. This is going to make sure that everything is nice and level, so that all that weight is being distributed between the axles of your tow vehicle and your trailer. So it's gonna give you a lot more control and comfort as you're going down the road. A weight distribution system is going to help with that problem that you probably have experienced where all of the weight of your trailer pushes down on your ball, on your hitch, and it causes the back end of your vehicle to sag, and the front end of your trailer to go down, so it's kind of like a V there at that connection point. A weight distribution system is going to have these two bars, which help to spread out the tension. And it's kind of like a wheel barrel so it lifts up on that back end to help raise that connection point so that all the weight is being distributed through the axles on both the vehicle and your trailer so that everything is going to ride appropriately again.Now this system is a really nice option for you. more

So if you're towing anything with a bumper pull system or that hitch that's at the back of your vehicle, this is going to be the greatest way to make sure that you get the most out of your hitch if it's rated for a weight distribution and also your vehicle is rated for weight distribution. You do want to check that cause not all of them are. This is going to be the greatest way to get the most out of your components. Really the main thing is that it helps to spread out the weight over all your axles.Whenever you're putting a lot of weight on the back end of your vehicle, let's say this is your vehicle, you're pushing down on the back end. more
